To ensure the creation of a Digital Bangladesh for the implementation of the proposed Vision 2021, the Honorable Prime Minister of the Government of Bangladesh, the Government will give special emphasis on this sector to ensure technical assistance in the implementation and use of information and communication technologies at district, upazila and union level; Information and Communication Technology facilities reach marginal level; infrastructure security; Maintenance; Implementation; The Department of Information and Communication Technology is formed on July 31, 2013 to ensure the delivery of e-service in the remote areas of the country by expanding the quality of expansion and computer professionals.

Effective purpose:
1) Creating high-speed electronics connection to the lowest level of the country.
2) To create appropriate infrastructure for providing services related to information and communication technology across the country.
3) Coordination of information related to information and communication technology related to public and private level.
4) Effective maintenance of information related to information and communication technology related to the uninterrupted service.
5) Creating ICT services for the purpose of creating efficient information and communication technologies at government level.
6) Increased capability of trained manpower for rapidly changing technology.
7) Expansion of knowledge and communication technology knowledge at all levels of government and public.
8) Preparation of relevant law, policies, guidelines and standards related to information and communication technology.
9) Creating and maintaining inter-operability in the practical field of ICT services and products.
10) Research, research and development of new technologies and overall cooperation.

Functions:
1) Ensuring and coordinating the use and application of ICT at all levels of the government.
2) To provide support, maintenance and support to the ICT-friendly infrastructure in all the offices till the field level.
3) Recruitment, promotion, posting and transferring manpower to the professional offices of all levels.
4) Transfer of technical and specialized knowledge of information technology at all levels.
5) Preparation and implementation of policies for the development of equality of government institutions and manpower.
6) Preparation and implementation of policies for improving equality of information technology
7) To take initiatives to provide services to the people in the electronic system till the grassroots level and to collect information, distribution and research activities.
8) Ensure the demand, quality and interoperability of machinery etc.
9) Research, development and support for the modernization of modern technology at all levels.

10) Provision of proper status and interest through proper evaluation of the talents, experience, qualifications of the officers / employees of the Directorate.
